Norma L. Taylor Meredith, age 82 of Wellsville, KS passed away Wednesday, April 29th, 2015 at the Wellsville Retirement Community. Funeral services will be 3 PM, Sunday, May 3, 2015 at the Wellsville Baptist Church. Visitation will be 6- 8PM, Saturday evening at Wilson's Funeral Home. Interment will follow services in the Wellsville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be ade to Vitas Care or the Wellsville Library in care of Wilson's, PO Box 486, Wellsville, KS 66092. Norma L. Taylor Meredith was born June 19, 1932 near Keeleville, Kansas the daughter of Leslie Elmer and Fern Pauline (Harrington) Smith. She attended Morrow and Stoney grade schools near Columbus and graduated from Cherokee County Community High School in 1949. On February 4, 1951, she married Carl R. Taylor, and to this union, two sons were born. They later divorced. Norma was a stenographer and held several positions in Olathe, including being the first Deputy Election Commissioner for Johnson County. In 1982, she took a position with North Supply in Gardner and after several years became the Marketing Communications Department secretary. She retired from there in January of 1992. She had been in Wellsville since 1970. She was a member of the Wellsville Baptist Church where she organized the Girls Guild program, was church clerk, and served as the church wedding coordinator for over 16 years. On September 19, 1998, Norma married George W. Meredith. He preceded her in death. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Olathe where she was their representative for the Church Women United and also served as their Vice President. Norma enjoyed Bible study and serving on the mission committee. Norma is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Sue Taylor of Wellsville; son and daughter-in- law, Kevin Lee and Lisa Taylor of Colorado Springs, Colorado; 4 grandchildren , Jeff (Emily) Taylor, Kyle Taylor, Ryan Taylor and Christa Taylor; 3 great-grandchildren, Nora, Landon and Hazel Taylor; and one sister, Pauline Dickens. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Joe Smith and Gerald Smith, and two sisters, June Edwards and Amelia Peterson
