Hawks girls hoops announce clinic

The 2011 Lil' Hawks Basketball Clinic, which is sponsored and run by the Olathe East girls basketball team, is scheduled for 1-3 p.m. on Dec. 3 in the school's gymnasium.

Returning members of last season's 20-win squad, which finished third at the Kansas 6A state tournament, will provide instruction along with the Hawks coaching staff to girls in kindergarten through sixth grade.

The advance registration deadline is today and costs $25. The cost at the door will be $30, which includes an Olathe East Hawks T-shirt.

For more information, contact East coach Clint Evans at cevansoe@olatheschools.org.

South hoops announce special tip-off

The Olathe South boys and girls basketball teams will kick off its season with “Late Night at Southside” on Monday, which will be similar to KU's Late Night at the Phog but on a smaller scale.

Admission for the event, which tips off at 7 p.m., is free with the donation of a non-perishable food item for Mission Southside.

It will feature a basketball trick competition and special dance, a performance by the Falcons B-Ballers, an alumni/faculty game as well as a boys-versus-girls matchup and the boys' blue-and-gold scrimmage.

Smoothie King will be providing free smoothies and fans can enter to win a Garmin GPS or various gift cards.
