Olathe Fire Department to host open house Sunday

The Olathe Fire Department is having its 17th annual open house from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at Fire Station No. 1, 501 E. Old 56 Highway.

All activities and refreshments are free. Hot dogs will be grilled by Atmos Energy.

At the event kids can spray water from a real fire hose, meet Olathe firefighters, see Olathe fire trucks and equipment as well as a rescue demonstration featuring special tools like the Jaws of Life.

Also on hand will be Sparky the robotic fire dog and the Kansas Highway Patrol’s rollover demonstration machine. The bomb squad will present a demonstration and people will be able to tour an Olathe fire station.
