Two armed men on Thursday evening robbed a Hispanic market in Olathe, the second such robbery in that city in two weeks.
The crimes follow a pattern of similar robberies of Hispanic markets throughout the metropolitan area that started last year.
Olathe police spokesman Sgt. John Roland said it is not clear if the same people are doing the crimes, including the latest Thursday at Latino Y Punto at 1530 E. Kansas City Road.
“Anything is possible at this point,” he said.
In an investigation of previous cases, detectives met last month from police departments in Olathe, Gladstone, Independence, Overland Park and Shawnee.
Bill Hisle, a spokesman for Shawnee police, said the crimes “kind of died down” before the recent incidents in Olathe.
