Rustin Dowd is making this whole college basketball thing look easy. The MidAmerica Nazarene freshman guard, who graduated last spring from Olathe South, scored the final seven Pioneers points, including a game-winning old-fashioned three-point play with 4 seconds remaining.

MidAmerica, which is hosting the Pioneer Classic this weekend at Bell Family Arena inside the Cook Center, trailed 34-30 at halftime Friday against Cardinal Stritch, but rallied for a 70-68 victory.

In a game that featured five lead changes in the final 96 seconds, Dowd scored a game- and career-high 23 for the Pioneers, 3-0.

Senior Brenton Bell, another graduate from South, added 14 points and a game- and career-high nine assists, while Lukas Weigel scored 13 with a team-high six rebounds.

Ben Swinger also had six rebounds. Olathe Northwest graduate Vince Thompkins chipped in five boards and Andrew Crotty, yet another former Falcon, had four assists.

It was the second straight two-point loss to start the season for Cardinal Stritch, which lost 74-72 against Wisconsin-Milwaukee last week.
