Two Eagles among Simone Awards finalists
The Olathe News staff
Two Olathe North seniors are among the finalists end-of-the-season football awards. The finalists were announced Friday by the Simone-Fontana Foundation's Simone Awards.
James Franklin, who entered quarterfinal play needing 43 yards to match former Eagle Darren Sproles' career rushing record (5,230), is a finalist for the Thomas A. Simone Award as the metro's best football player.
Blue Valley Northwest quarterback Koby Chadick and a pair of running backs from Missouri, Winnetonka's Darryl Jobe and Blue Springs' Darrian Miller, are the other finalists.
Lineman Lucas Vincent was the only player from Kansas among the four Buchanan Award finalists. Rockhurst teammates Sal Belfonte and Dan Tapko also are finalists along with Blue Springs' Jordan Chrisman.
