Olathe Northwest gave Blue Valley Northwest everything it wanted Friday night in the Kansas 6A regional playoffs.

But the upstart Ravens didn't have quite enough for the East Kansas League champions, falling to the Huskies 38-25 at the Blue Valley District Activities Complex.

The Huskies' offense goes through quarterback Koby Chadick, who did his damage on the ground Friday, rushing for 207 yards and four touchdowns, including the game-winner from 23 yards out with 4:15 to play.

“He definitely put us on his back and carried us tonight,” Huskies head coach Mike Zegunis said. “He's one of the finest football players I've had the opportunity to coach. He was the difference-maker tonight.”

Chadick would add one more score with 1:14 to play for the game's final points.

“We just didn't get the stops when we needed them,” Olathe Northwest coach Todd Dain said. “We had the momentum there for a bit, but we just couldn't keep it.”

The Ravens, 4-6, scored the first touchdown of the second half on a 23-yard run by Devon Boyce, pulling within three at 13-10.

On the ensuing drive, the Huskies, 9-1, converted a fourth-and-1 when Chadick went 35 yards up the middle on a keeper. Tim Park scored two plays later to put BV Northwest up 19-10 after a missed extra point.

The Huskies then added to the lead with another touchdown run by Chadick — this one from 11 yards out — to go up 25-10. The one-play drive came on the heels of a Ravens' fumble on an attempted punt deep in their end.

The Ravens then answered with 15 straight points to tie the score at 25 early in the fourth quarter.

The first score came on a 39-yard run by Boyce and the equalizer came on a Nick Bandy pick-six. He intercepted Chadick and took it back 39 yards for the score. Josh Lemke ran in the two-point conversion to tie the game at 25.

“We made some adjustments and were able to get out there and run on them,” Dain said. “We just couldn't get keep it going.”

The first half was all about taking advantage of a short field. The Huskies went up 6-0 after capitalizing on a drive that started on the Ravens' 33-yard line.

After a long run off of a quarterback keeper by Chadick, the senior hooked up with his favorite target, Matt Ornduff, on an 11-yard touchdown pass with just seconds left in the opening quarter.

The Huskies then took advantage of a Ravens' miscue four minutes into the second quarter as Chadick scored from 18 yards out on a keeper on the first play after Olathe Northwest fumbled a Huskies punt.

The Ravens were able to get on the board in the closing seconds thanks to a Nick Prologo 34-yard field goal that snuck over the cross bar with 14 seconds left in the half. Olathe Northwest started their lone scoring drive form the Huskies' 44-yard line after a Blue Valley Northwest punt got caught up in the wind and actually went backwards one yard.

The Ravens were making just their second postseason appearance in the school's six-year history. They advanced to the playoffs in 2006, losing to top-seeded Shawnee Mission West, the eventual state runner-up, in the first round.
