CORRINE ELIZABETH CLARKE SECREST

Corrine Secrest, 90, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009, in Houston, Texas. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009, at Edgerton Cemetery, Edgerton, Kan. Arrangements: Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, KS, 913-856-7111. Condolences may be sent to www.brucefuneralhome.com.

Corrine was born in Howe, Neb. to Viola Vandella Howell Clarke and Matthew Magil Clarke. She graduated from Auburn High School in Auburn, Neb. where she met her husband, William Francis Secrest. They married in Wichita, Kan. in 1940. While her husband worked for Continental Oil Co., they lived in Corpus Christi, Texas, Ponca City, Okla. and Tulsa, Okla. In 1950 they started the Secrest Pipe Coating Co in Tulsa and later Secrest Emergency Services, which re-railed, railroad train wrecks.

Corrine and her husband were active in the restoration and showing of 1932 Fords and won many national prizes at V-8 car club meets. Corrine contributed greatly to all around her, enriching their lives with laughter, love and caring. She positively impacted all who knew her, and she will be greatly missed by her many friends, relatives and acquaintances.

Corrine and "Seek" had one son, Ronald Dean Secrest, who was the light of their lives. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, and sisters, Evelyn Clarke Skoglund, and Esther Clarke, brothers, William Clarke and Edgar Clarke. Her grandchildren, who she adored, William Cordell Secrest and Jacquelynn Nicole Secrest, survive her. Other survivors include nieces Jane Fisher, Judy Moody, and nephew Leslie Secrest, MD, many great nieces and nephews and friends.
