Helen was born March 27, 1921, in Calico Rock, Ark. to James and Mary Augusta Vernetta Owens. She married William Fitzhugh on July 5, 1951, in Mt. Hope, Ark. She was a member of the Pleasant Valley Community Church in Calico Rock. Helen donated quilts, handwork and crafts to support the De Soto Baptist Church. She also enjoyed gardening and cooking. Helen was a great friend to all that knew her and a true friend of the community. Her family meant everything to her and she will be missed every day by those who knew her and loved her kind and generous nature. One of her greatest joys was talking to her grandsons. Each of them were so special to Grandma and she never missed the opportunity to give them a call to talk about what was going on in the world and to make sure that they were doing ok. She was always ready to discuss the latest news, politics, jobs, weather or great grandchild. She ended every conversation with "I Love You" and we will miss these very special words.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elmer M. Drennan; her husband, William A. Fitzhugh; son in-law, William "Bill" Bennett; and nine brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughters, Shirley (Drennan) Bennett, Connie Sims and husband Ken, son Elmer Drennan and wife, Elizabeth; seven grandsons, Scott, Bob, Dave, Brad and wife Penny, Mark and wife, Kasey, Josh and wife, Emily and Kyle and wife, Amber; six great- grandchildren, Sydney, Ryan, Haley, Holly, Bailey, and Korbin.
