SMS sweeps North softball
The Olathe News staff
Megan McCracken's first-inning double plated Amanda Vaupel in the opening game of the Olathe North softball team's doubleheader against Shawnee Mission South at the SM District Softball Complex.
But that was the only lead the Eagles would enjoy Tuesday in a 4-1, 4-3 sweep at the hands of the Raiders.
SM South scored singles runs in the first and second then plated two in the fifth in the opener before starting the second contest with a four-run first inning.
Vaupel, who had three hits including a double in the nightcap, laced a two-run, fifth-inning single later in that game and McCracken drove home a run with a seventh-inning sacrifice fly, but North fell short and fell to 6-11 overall.
Senior Amy Vanderwell had two singles in the second game.
