‘I robbed it because I was hungry’
Kansas City police arrested a robbery suspect Thursday after he allegedly robbed a beauty supply store and tied up the clerk.
The holdup occurred about 10:25 a.m. at Mid K Beauty Supply, 1111 Brooklyn Avenue. The clerk told police a man asked how much money the clerk had and pointed a handgun at him.
The robber took the cash drawer and some earrings from a counter case. The robber then demanded the store’s surveillance tape and the clerk’s belt, which he used to tie the clerk’s hands behind his back.
The clerk freed himself and called police.
Officers stopped the suspect at 8th Street and Woodland Avenue. The suspect allegedly said: “I robbed it because I was hungry and I threw the gun over there,” according to court records. Officers recovered a gun from grass where the suspect had pointed.
Jackson County prosecutors charged Rashiek D. Cole, 17, with first-degree robbery, armed criminal action and felonious restraint.
