MU notebook | Jackson’s catch highlight worthy
Jerrell Jackson’s catch
Jerrell Jackson caught only one pass Saturday, for a mere 5 yards. But it will show up on highlights all week and on Missouri’s season-ending video.
The pass over the middle was thrown not only behind Jackson, but behind the Colorado defender.
Jackson reached back with one hand and somehow snared, and held the football. All in Folsom Field gasped.
“Blaine (Gabbert) could have just led me in and it would have been an easy catch,” Jackson said. “I guess it probably slipped out of his hand and it went real far behind me.
“I had to go to my Jerry Rice box and just stick one hand out there and bring it in. I didn’t realize it was behind the defender’s head, too.”
•Danario Alexander has now had five straight games with six or more catches, tying a record set last season by Jeremy Maclin.
•Missouri has now scored touchdowns on three fake field goals. They had one versus Colorado when up 26-0, one against Nevada last season when up 45-17 and one in 2007 against Nebraska when up 34-6.
