Olathe East improved to 15-2 overall with three victories last week.

And while the Hawks pitching staff combined for a couple three-hitters in the mix, it was the offense that shined brightest as East pounded out 43 hits and scored 32 runs in the three wins.

Celebrating Senior Night and the program's five seniors — Jessica Brooks, Kendall Grimm, Michelle Ingles, Jenny Polivka and Ashley Stout — the Hawks rocked Shawnee Mission South 12-2 in six innings in the resumption of a rain-suspended doubleheader at the College Boulevard Activity Center.

Stout and junior Darin Lewis combined for the win, while East's offense pounded out 14 hits.

Grimm led the attack, going 4-for-4 and scoring three runs, while Polivka went 3-for-3 with three RBIs. Ingles also drove in three runs, while junior Laura Vickers scored twice and drove in two.

A day later at the Shawnee Mission District Softball Complex, the Hawks swept SM Northwest 11-1 in six innings and 9-3.

Lewis improved to 7-1 overall and helped East reach 9-1 in the Sunflower League with a three-hitter in the opener. Stout bumped her record to 7-0 in the nightcap, while Blair Lewis recorded her third save.

Shelbi Olson led the 15-hit attack in the first game with two doubles and four RBIs. Brooks, who drove in three, Grimm, Vickers and Polivka also doubled.

The offense continued to sizzle in the second game, which featured a two-run home run — a career first — to straightaway center by Brooks. She finished the game 3-for-3 with three RBIs.

Freshman catcher Sami Olson had two hits and two RBIs in the win.
