Officers in a federal task force exchanged fire tonight with a man who they said drew a weapon when they tried to arrest him outside an Olathe restaurant.

The man had an outstanding warrant in Johnson County for aggravated assault, said FBI spokeswoman Bridget Patton.

Officers following a tip confronted the man outside a restaurant at 151st Street and Ridgeview Road about 7:15 p.m. The suspect drew a gun and exchanged fire with officers, Patton said.

The man suffered several gunshot wounds, reportedly to the torso and arm, and was taken to a hospital for treatment. His condition was not immediately available and officials did not release his name.

No officers were injured.

The officers were part of the FBI Violent Crime Safe Streets Task Force, which is a cooperative effort of several law-enforcement agencies.
